Quitting Smoking Is Hard - These Tips Can Help!

In order to quit smoking successfully, ask for help from the people you see most. Having the support of family, friends, and co-workers can mean the difference between success and failure. Quitting any habit is difficult, especially one like smoking that is addictive. Make sure the people around you cheer you on and do not intentionally thwart your success.

Remember that smoking cessation is really all about replacing one behavior with another. For most people, it is primarily the physical act of smoking that is the major draw. It signifies "me time" and a break from a hectic schedule or a boring job. Choose ahead of time exactly what behavior you will replace those smoking minutes with, and then do it!

If you're trying to quit smoking, stopping "cold turkey" is a bad idea. Quitting without a means of support for nicotine withdrawal is an uphill battle. Because nicotine is addictive, it's very easy to relapse without some form of support when quitting. It's best to use smoking cessation medicine, or some type of therapy when you're ready to quit.

Don't Go Cold Turkey

Do not quit cold turkey. It can be tempting to throw out your cigarettes and say, "I quit!" But cold turkey is not the way you want to go. Studies show that over ninety percent of people who try to quit smoking with no medication or therapy end up relapsing. The reason for this is because nicotine is addictive and your brain craves it. Without it, nicotine withdrawal symptoms set in.

Don't do it by yourself. Enlist the help of your friends and family. It's also a great idea to join a support group. Meeting other people who want to quit will help you stay motivated and you will be able to share tips.

If you're a smoker who lights up more in social situations, plan ways to not join your friends for a cigarette when you're out. While dining, stay at the table if your friends go outside for to smoke. If you're at a party, if people are smoking, find a non-smoker to chat with. Finding ways to not be around smokers will make it easier for you to quit.

Once you commit to quitting smoking, give your home, car and other personal spaces and effects a thorough cleaning. Smelling smoke will only make you want to smoke. Likewise, your sense of smell will improve the longer you go without smoking, and cleaning will give you a chance to appreciate just how bad the smoke made your items smell.

Quit smoking with a buddy. Having someone else with whom to commiserate and celebrate will make your success even sweeter. Choose a friend, relative, or co-worker who also wants to quit, or pair up with someone on an online support forum. Having someone by your side will make the process much easier to tolerate and will help you stay accountable.

Before beginning to quit, talk with your doctor about your intentions. Your doctor can advise you on the best methods to quit, and if need be, can provide you with prescription drugs to aid your quitting. Also, your doctor can be an important sounding board throughout your entire quitting experience.

Do not try to start smoking without first developing a plan. Your life has probably been ruled by cigarettes for quite some time. A life without cigarettes will require adjustments in your life. Deciding what you are going to do about cravings, avoiding triggers, and setting your quit date are all essential components of a successful plan for quitting.

Make sure you are aware of all the implications of smoking, as this will encourage you to quit. In addition to the obvious chance of developing lung cancer, smokers are known to have twice the danger of dying from a sudden heart attack. Smoking can lead to an abdominal aortic aneurysm, which cause death almost immediately.

Don't give up if your initial attempt to quit smoking fails. Use it as an opportunity to evaluate what aspects of your program were successful and what areas need to be adjusted. Most people try several times before they are successful in quitting. Set a new date to stop and then, try again.

Add exercise to your regular routine if you are trying to smoke. Physical activity can help you to deal with the nicotine cravings you will experience. Exercise can help to lessen these withdrawal symptoms. Get out and walk the dog or dig in your garden, and you will have an easier time quitting smoking.

Learn some deep breathing techniques and practice them when you feel the craving for a cigarette. When you feel the urge for a smoke, take a few minutes and breathe deeply through your nose, hold it, and exhale through your mouth. Repeat this until the need for a cigarette has gone away.

Once you quit smoking, have regular celebrations. After you go two weeks without smoking, treat yourself to a movie. Once you go a month, eat at a fancy restaurant. Once you go six months, purchase some item that you've been wanting. Once you go an entire year without smoking, have a party for yourself. Invite all your friends and family to celebrate this milestone. These little celebrations can assist you in kicking this bad habit to the curb so that you can enjoy a healthier life.

Before you start quitting smoking, find a new method of stress management. Do you usually go out for a cigarette when your job gets to be too much? Go for a jog around the building instead. Are cigarettes how you unwind after an overwhelming day? Start treating yourself to a bubble bath or curling up with some hot chocolate and your favorite movie.

Using the ideas you have just read is a wonderful beginning to quitting smoking. Use the ones that seem most fitting for you and start feeling better. Reward yourself by giving up this destructive habit and learning how to be free from your addiction. Believe in yourself, you can do it!

Celtics star tries to hide disappointment at gender reveal

By

If Gordon Hayward wants a son, he’s going to have to wait.
The Celtics star tried to act diplomatic in video his wife posted Monday, when the father of two girls got a gender reveal for his third child — who is also a girl.
A visibly bummed Hayward tried to keep a poker face as the pink balloons were released.
“Whoa, it’s a girl,” he deadpanned. After wife Robyn asked if he was happy, he offered, “Daddy’s always happy.”
Hayward’s number of children outnumbers the number of games he played in last season, as he suffered a fractured ankle just minutes into his Celtics debut.
Hayward averaged 21.9 points per game in his final season in Utah, before jumping to Boston in free agency last offseason.

Donald Trump praises Angela Merkel hours after he ripped Germany

By

President Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel acted like old pals at the NATO summit on Wednesday just hours after the president said Germany was “totally controlled” by Russia.
The two leaders complimented each other and praised their partnership after they met on the sidelines of the Brussels summit, where they said they discussed migration, trade and military spending.
“We have a very, very good relationship with the chancellor. We have a tremendous relationship with Germany. They’ve made tremendous success and congratulate you,” Trump said as he sat across from Merkel.
“I believe that our trade will increase and lots of other things will increase, but we’ll see what happens over the next period of a few months,” he added.
Merkel, speaking through an interpreter, said she was “very pleased” to talk to Trump about issues.
”We are partners, we are good partners and we wish to continue cooperating in the future,” she said.
Trump said he and Merkel also talked about the pipeline project that he railed about during a breakfast meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, but would not comment on what they discussed.
“I think it’s very sad when Germany makes a massive oil and gas deal with Russia, where you’re supposed to be guarding against Russia, and Germany goes out and pays billions and billions of dollars a year to Russia,” Trump told Stoltenberg earlier Wednesday.
”But Germany is totally controlled by Russia,” Trump added.
He was remarking on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project that would bring natural gas from Russia into northern Germany.

Overwatch championship to air in prime time on ESPN

By

Esports are coming to ESPN.
The network will air the inaugural Overwatch League Grand Finals in prime time this month as part of a multiyear agreement to bring esports to the biggest sports platform on American television.
Disney and Activision Blizzard announced plans Wednesday to broadcast the OWL’s playoffs and championship on ESPN, ABC and Disney XD. The Grand Finals on July 27 will be shown live on ESPN, marking the first time the network will carry esports in prime time.
“We think that really reflects the commitment they’re making to the category,” said Pete Vlastelica, president and CEO of Activision Blizzard Esports Leagues.
Coverage begins Wednesday with the playoffs on Disney XD and ESPN3. There will be 10 hours total of Grand Finals coverage, including a recap show July 29 on ABC. Disney’s networks will also broadcast OWL matches next season. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
Overwatch is a team-based first-person shooter, with two teams of six players competing over various objectives. The OWL has city-based teams in four countries, including nine US franchises plus teams in London, Seoul and Shanghai. The league plans to expand after its first season.
“There’s no doubt that this partnership will increase the reach of our league content,” Vlastelica said. “And open up, have access to a new audience that maybe doesn’t spend so much time streaming content online, but who has heard of esports and is familiar with gaming and who’s a big sports fan.”
The playoffs will take place at Blizzard’s esports arena in Burbank, Calif., and the Grand Finals will be held at the Barclays Center in New York.
The OWL had been streaming all matches on Twitch, a livestream platform owned by Amazon, and it will continue to provide simulcasts there through at least 2019.
The league signed a two-year agreement with Twitch prior to this season and drew 10 million viewers to the platform on its opening weekend, besting Amazon’s NFL “Thursday Night Football” numbers from the 2017 season.

ADULTS BRAWLING IN CHILDREN’S RESTAURANT CAUGHT ON CAMERA

By

A fight involving at least five adults at a restaurant for children was caught on camera this weekend, prompting many to demand that the kid-focused establishment be shut down.

In the recording at Go Bananas in Norridge, Ill., several adults are seen fighting each other near a dining table, which appears to be set up for a child’s birthday. Outside of the room, a banner reads “Happy Birthday.”

The adults involved in the fight throw punches before one woman grabs a mop to use as a weapon. Two others involved threw what appear to be trash cans at others in the fight. According to reports, a baby was sitting only a few feet away from the altercation.

The chaos was posted on social media and has been viewed over 200,000 times.

No one was arrested in the brawl, but the violent video has prompted the Norridge president to meet with the restaurant’s owner, FOX32 reported.

The president is not the only one outraged by the scene at the Chicago-area family amusement center. Thousands have taken to social media to demand Go Bananas be shut down. Nearly 4,000 have signed an online petition as of Tuesday afternoon.

“We have to come together as a community to do what we can to put an end to the amount of violence that is pouring into our neighborhoods, especially at a children’s facility,” the petition reads.

The business has had a history of violence, the police chief told Chicago CBS.

“We’ve been there several times, multiple times,” Chief Disselhort said.

Between April 2015 and May 2016, police were called to Go Bananas nearly 30 times, FOX32 reported.

This also is not the first time Go Bananas, which has rides and games, has been in the news. In 2011, a 3-year-old boy fell to his death from a roller coaster inside.

Go Bananas did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
